A Camping Trip to Joshua Tree National Park
Have you considered a camping vacation this summer? If so, why not check out Joshua Tree National Park, located 140 miles east of Los Angeles, 175 miles northeast of San Diego, and 215 miles southwest of Las Vegas.
This park is home to nine campgrounds! Each campground has a number of campsites ranging from 15 to 124. Two of the camps are horse camps; two have water available, and all charge fees from $10 to $15.
The names of the campgrounds include Belle, Black Rock, Cottonwood, Hidden Valley, Indian Cove, Jumbo Rocks (which has 124 camp sites), Ryan, and Sheep Pass. The names alone invoke fun and adventure!
Activities available at Joshua Tree National Park include horseback riding, hiking, nature walks, rock climbing, stargazing, and wildflower viewing, to name a few.
The campsites are available for up to six people and three tents. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire grate. Toilets and water are available at Black Rock and Cottonwood campgrounds. In addition, you can obtain water at the visitor center and the Indian Cove Ranger Station.
The kids will love this camping vacation, not only because it offers a myriad of activities, but because they can become Junior Rangers and receive their own badge! Kids will also want to pick up the Jr. Ranger workbook, which is available at the entrance to the park. This workbook offers information about the ranger program as well as other camping regulations.
Imagine camping among the more than 800,000 acres of land that is Joshua Tree National Park. Moreover, it has been touted as having one of the most incredible views, land formations, and vegetation due to its high elevations.
For an adventurous and fun-filled vacation, check out Joshua Tree National Park. Don’t forget to bring the camera as we are told there are tortoises and bighorn sheep roaming about!
